Ancient Proverb from the Founding Fathers of Rock-n-Roll
Just wanted to touch base with everyone to let you know that we recently took down most of our social media posts - in order to get ready for the release of the new album this summer.
But don't worry - we'll be relaunching, across all platforms again, just before it drops.
In the meantime, you’ll notice we left up a few old things in the gallery while we continue to prep for the revamp & keep our sights set on the future.
As we've always said, in the (10) years we’ve been together, we've prided ourselves on being a true-to-our-roots cult band - with a local & loyal following - no phony hype - just great tunes, done our way - & that will never change.
At our core, Whores From Hell has always been an 80’s-style band - but very modernized.
We rock every part of that classic, vintage era - when songs stayed written & they demanded you crank 'em up to “11” & sing along with the chorus at the top of your lungs - whether you knew the words, or not.
However, as you all know, it's been a significantly rough patch for us since the sudden & untimely passing of both Will & Jimmy.
It was, & continues to be, a devastating loss to our band family.
But, over time - just as they would both want us to do - we have continued to move ahead, as best we can, while we continue to adjust and compensate for the artistic and logistic changes that became necessary.
We've had so many questions about both their situations - so, for those who did not initially hear how it happened, Will had suffered some severe complications following surgery, which he had down in Houston, to repair a femoral hernia. Without going into the gruesome details, he later developed a very serious infection which affected several systems in his body - one being his heart, which simply couldn't withstand the stress placed upon it. He was always very stoic &, by the time he finally knew he had a very serious problem, and was really in trouble, it was simply too late.
Unfortunately, a very similar fate also fell upon Jimmy, who passed away suddenly from undiagnosed heart disease. He simply got up one morning, to take a shower, and collapsed right there on the bathroom floor.
As if that wasn't enough, factor in all the unimaginable disruption to everyone's lives from the pandemic and you can imagine how their losses have impacted us.
Though, for now, the good news is we've managed to carry on and have continued to record. We are also still considering changes to the roster, as some new tunes have come along that we feel very confident about performing, even though we no longer have the incredible input from them that we depended on for so long.
And speaking of the new album, we still have some of the quick audio teasers posted below, which everybody can check out - and we'll post the newest ones once they take shape - so, stay tuned and we’ll post updates here, when we get closer to an official drop date.
We’re also very pleased to report that the original album sold out of its “intimately-sized pressing", as we called it - but we’re still very proud of that accomplishment - & we’ve decided to let that be the last one for a while - thus automatically making it a collector’s item.
However, we have seriously discussed eventually re-recording it & then re-releasing the completely re-vamped project when the time feels right.
Meanwhile, we did keep the original lyric sheets & liner notes posted also - plus, as mentioned, we'll be adding a couple of new original tunes, as well.
And - by popular demand - we’re also bringing back the T-shirts - but with a new front & back design which you can see in the photo gallery - & they will be available, in coordination with the release of the new album this summer.
Finally, we just wanted to acknowledge how much fun we had & send out many thanks to you, for making our annual Halloween gig another resounding success. So, as always, we certainly plan to do it again this year.
So, we'll close by sending out our most heartfelt thanks for all your unwavering support.
It truly means the world to us.
WFH
One thing we got an enormous kick out of - along with a massive amount of completely unexpected publicity - was the fact that, a while back, our band name generated national attention, as part of (2) major trademark lawsuits - one of which went all the way to the Supreme Court.
The first case involved NFL Football Team, The Washington Redskins, over objections to the continued use of their name, which some considered racist, derogatory and demeaning to Native Americans. The second case involved an Oregon-based, indie rock band known as, “The Slants”, composed of Asian-Americans and fronted by lead singer, Simon Tam. As with the Redskins, certain people felt their name was also racist, derogatory and demeaning - but to Asian-Americans.
In both instances, our band name was sited as a significant example of a name that may be considered vulgar and offensive by some but, nonetheless, our right to use it is still protected by the First Amendment’s guarantee of Freedom of Speech - plus the USPTO had granted our Trademark Application, thus officially approving the use of that name.
So, all across the country, sports headlines screamed things like, “Well, what about calling them the Washington Whores From Hell?” - & Splinter wrote, “The Redskins say the government can't call their name offensive if they're okay with 'WHORES FROM HELL”.
These posts are still everywhere, so feel free to Google away. But the story has a happy ending - for both entities - as the High Court ruled in favor of the Slants, which immediately established legal precedent for the Redskins - with both being allowed to keep, & continue using, their names. Of course, the Redskins did ultimately change their name - but for a different set of reasons.
So, hooray for another victory in the name of Freedom! - and us "Whores From Hell" were more than happy to help.
A teaser track from our upcoming album
These next (2) are off the 1st Album
Soldier of Love
1st Verse:
In a time when life was barren & the earth was black & cold
An endless battle rages, yeah, the story’s all been told
There are battles for freedom, there are others for gold
They are fought by the young but they are waged by the old
2nd Verse:
In the distance came a shadow, one man all alone
He held inside a secret men have always known
He carried not a weapon, with his hand held high
He stopped that mighty battle when they heard him cry
Chorus:
I’m a soldier of love, no soldier of pain
Women are my country, passion is my claim to
Fame is elusive & killing’s a sin
When my battle is over you know everybody wins
3rd Verse:
The sword of temptation cuts the hand of desire
Will you burn on the ice or will you freeze in the fire
I’ll show you an image in a mirror made of stone
Surrounded by ten thousand you will stand alone before the
Chorus:
Soldier of love, no soldier of pain
Women are my country, passion is my claim to
Fame is elusive & killing’s a sin
When my battle is over you know everybody wins
4th Verse:
He was stronger than a fighter, his legend never fades
’Cause he gathered all the women & he took them all away
No good or no evil, just a price we must pay
In the still of the night time you can hear them say
Repeat Chorus

This is more than just foolin’ around

Borderline
1st Verse:
Can someone tell me what’s goin’ on
My head is spinnin’ & I feel like somethin’s wrong
Look out the window but she’s nowhere in sight
I think I’ll find her & I just might go tonight, go tonight
Look at her picture & I lose control, I can’t hold on anymore
Chorus:
I’m over the borderline, outta my mind
Over the borderline, outta control don’t ya know’
‘Cause she looks so fine
You boys know what I’m talkin’ about
2nd Verse:
I see her face inside my head, I tried to fight it
But I took another look instead
I called a doctor, you’d think he’d understand
He said there ain’t no cure for what a woman can do to a man
Ah with just the touch of her hand
I say goodbye to my family & friends
Gotta go lookin’ for love again
Chorus:
Over the borderline, outta my mind
Over the borderline, outta control don’t ya know
’Cause she looks so fine
So fine, now play that guitar one time
3rd Verse:
My mama told me when I was a child
Too many women too fast would only drive you wild
But that’s just my style
I got to love ’em now with all of my might
Who needs tomorrow when it’s all goin’ down tonight?
Down tonight
I packed my bag & I’m ready to ride,
I need a hot-town woman to satisfy
Repeat Chorus

Alone
1st Verse:
When you look in the mirror, tell me what do you see
Is it the face of a woman you always wanted to be
You can run from the sun but you can’t hide away from the night
You can leave it undone but nothin’ is that black & white
Chorus:
Nobody said it was easy to face it
You gave it up, now you’re out on your own
You take love on the run so you won’t have to end up alone
2nd Verse:
You look at him girl but I know you’re thinkin’ of me
If you keep holdin’ to someone you’re never gonna be free
All the things that you’ve tried
The nights that you’ve cried from your heart
You were holdin’ it back ’til you got off the track at the start
Chorus:
You see a face on the street, it reminds you
You close your eyes from the memories you’ve known
You take love on the run so you won’t have to end up alone
Chorus:
Nobody said it was easy to face it
You close your eyes from the memories you’ve known
You take love on the run so you won’t have to end up alone
You see your picture in a window behind you
I pray that you would only pick up the phone
Takin’ love on the run, you always will end up alone

Do ya need to? Yes, I need to rock
Do ya need to? Yes, I need to rock
I need it

Do ya need to? Yes, I need to rock
